National Oral Health Plan Consultation Overview

The Australian Government is working on a new National Oral Health Plan to shape how oral health services are delivered across the country from 2025 to 2034. To make sure the new Plan truly reflects the voices, needs, and realities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, the Department of Health, Ageing and Disability has engaged First Peoples Health Consulting - a proud Aboriginal-owned and led business working with Gullidala - to lead culturally grounded yarning circles with mob across the country.

Our approach puts mob at the centre, with yarning circles and online feedback opportunities for First Nations oral health professionals, practitioners, and grassroots consumers right across the country. We want to yarn about what’s working well, what helps our people look after their teeth and mouths, and what changes are needed to better support our communities.

Your clinical insight, cultural knowledge, and lived experience are vital to this conversation. Everything you share is anonymous and will contribute to a national report that captures what matters most to our communities and services. This feedback will directly inform the new National Oral Health Plan and help make sure it supports both First Nations people and the workforce delivering care.

The engagement opportunities below form part of our tiered consultation approach gathering input from grassroots consumers, oral health practitioners, and working in partnership with NACCHO to engage First Nations services delivering oral health care.
